The Microbiota Transplantation Preparation Center will provide FMT materials to service recipients for use in animal experiments, clinical treatments, or clinical trials. This center will collaborate with the Microbial Culturing Center, the Metabolomics Center, the Animal Models Center, and BCRC (Bioresource Collection and Research Center), a research organization with a unique combination of food and biological resource development capabilities. Through the significant findings from these centers, the Microbiota Implant Preparation Center will identify optimal potential donors and validate the crucial research outcomes of the three aforementioned centers through animal experiments and clinical trials. Additionally, it will investigate post-FMT-related indicators, serving as a critical milestone for the practical application of microbiota research.
The promotion of FMT offers potential benefits to patients suffering from recurring and challenging Clostridium difficile infections, where conventional treatments have been ineffective. Moreover, ongoing research is exploring the applicability of microbiota-related therapies for a wide range of conditions, including gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, metabolic syndrome, cancer, and neurological disorders, among others.
The center is also actively involved in various clinical microbiota research and biomedical informatics research. It continually monitors international advancements in FMT research and strives to expand its applications to benefit a broader spectrum of patients with different conditions. This initiative can catalyze the development of downstream opportunities and business ventures throughout the entire healthcare industry chain, spanning from diagnosis and prevention to treatment and prognosis.
